And this is the plan for Savona-Aurich learning activities at the Ulricianum:
Generally we have to work in two groups, each consisting of Italian guests and their German hosts, so the groups will take turns in their activities.
We have booked our multimedia-room (banana1) which offers a good working environment for the sub-groups.
1. Daily language course
The basic idea is to start each day at school with a 30 mins language teaching session in pairs, where Savona pupils teach strcutures and sentences for basic communication situations to Aurich pupils (in the café, in the restaurant, how to introduce yourself, how to say good morning, good afternoon etc., how to ask for something, etc.). The Aurich pupils do the same with their Italian partners, of course, so it’s 15 mins Italian & 15 mins German each school day. Stress should be on absolaut correct pronounciation, if possible.

2. ) Daily Podcasting and Videocasting News
On our website or a special one there should be an online ‘magazine’ with regular news as podcasts (spoken only) and videocasts (videoclips with speech) as well as photos, photo series and written reports.
Pod- and Videocasts can be produced in our multimedia room (banana 1) with software like audacity and web2.0 applications like voxopop.com.
Possible topics in Aurich:
- touristic glimpse on typical sights
- interviews with Italian people in Aurich
- research: wind energy (enercon.com) in Aurich
- research: historical windmills in Aurich
- research: the Wadden Sea and environmental aspects
- …
- [further topics will be worked out with pupils]
==> Results to be published as pod-/videocasts, photo series, articles etc. on the project blog
- interesting as well: 30 seconds video-like presentations based on up to 15 photos and either a soundfile or a spoken text of 30 secs at animoto.com, etc.).

Suggestion 1: This free of charge system (www.animoto.com) could be used already now to individually present “My favourite place” (10-15 photos plus spoken comment of 30 seconds) to the partner(s), it can be done in Savona/in Aurich alternatively, of course.
Suggestion 2: We use a series of photos on the topic of “What is new to me/what is different to me/what I haven’t known before about Italy/Germany/what is interesting to know” which everybody takes and presents to sho is new cultural/intercultural experiences and insight. Could be done by the Aurich pupils in Savona and the Savona pupils in Aurich and published on our project blog.
3. Video project
Small groups can prepare and produce SHORT video-films which they will cut and finalize on their own:
- I have booked six video cameras and two tripods at our local media centre (Medienzentrum Landkreis) for four days
- I have booked a room in the media centre where videos can be cut and finalized for three days
==> if possible, extracts of these videos can be published on the project blog as well; it should be possible to produce a sufficient number of DVDs for everybody to take home at the end of the exchange, fingers crossed.
